Matt Kenseth wins Championship

Matt Kenseth the 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup Series Championship

The 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup Series began on February 8 and ended on November 16. Matt Kenseth of Roush Racing won the championship, the last Winston Cup Series champion in NASCAR. The next year Nextel will take over for Winston for the NASCAR sponsor. The 2003 Daytona 500 was won by Michael Waltrip of Dale Earnhardt Inc. The rookie of the year was Jamie McMurrary of Chip Ganassi Racing.
